The EDV form, which is open from 'Asoj 20' and can be filled up till 'Kattik 23'. After Dashain, big number of people applying for passports at the passport department for EDV.

The Government of Nepal is preparing to issue electronic passport (e-passport) from November.  

The US government has made passport mandatory for DV for several years. Due to DV fillers, the department has been receiving more than 3,000 applications for passports daily in recent days.

According to the department, 80 percent have made passports to fill DV. 

How to fill EDV?

EDV filling process is going on. The US had opened EDV from 6th October 2021 and the deadline to fill out the EDV is November 9, 2021.

To fill out a DV, go to the U.S. State Government's site and fill in your original documents. When filling the DV, details like name, date of birth, place of birth, passport details, photo, address, phone number, email etc. should be submitted.

For FY 2023, the DV lottery program will make up to 55,000 green card numbers available through random selection. The winners of the DV 2023 will be able to obtain a visa by September 30, 2023, with the results coming in May 2022.

The applications for Diversity Visa (DV) 2023 will open tonight, October 6, at 9:45 pm Nepal time until November 9, 2021. If you’re thinking of applying, we strongly recommend that you follow the guidelines as listed below:

  • Follow the instructions carefully.
  • List all family members on your application.
  • Use a recent photo from the last six months.
  • List a valid, unexpired passport.
  • Don’t pay for services you don’t need like paying for sponsors or the documents you don't need.

For this reason the USA has been randomly distributed 55,000 so called Green Cards in the DV Lottery every year since 1994.
