United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a country in Western Asia at the southeast end of the Arabian Peninsula on the Persian Gulf which borders Oman to the east and Saudi Arabia to the south and west, as well as shares maritime borders with Qatar to the west and Iran to the north. UAE has got an area of 83,600 square kilometers. The estimated 2019 population of the UAE is 9.77 million, up from 2014's estimate of 9.44 million.

1. UAE is divided into seven emirates – Abu Dhabi (which is the capital), Ajman, Dubai, Fujairah, Sharjah, Ras al-Khaimah, Umm al-Quwain. The official language in all the emirates is Arabic.

2. Dubai also known as the City of Gold has the Gold Souk which is the largest market for gold and jewelry, and the city also has ATM's that dispense gold bars.

3. Dubai has only hot and warm temperatures throughout the year. Best time to visit there is around September-October.Dubai gets the maximum number of tourist among all the emirates and also hosts a month-long shopping festival every year in Dec-Jan.

4. UAE has developed road network and has more than 40 airports among which the biggest and the busiest airport is the Dubai International Airport.

5. Ajman is the smallest emirate in UAE, and is a beautiful place with white sand beaches, and is full of museums and has locations with historical importance.

7. Sharjah is considered as the cultural capital of UAE. The third largest emirate has land on both the 'Persian Gulf' and the 'Gulf of Oman'.

8. Abu Dhabi has a 700 km long coastline and covers almost 85% of the country. Abu Dhabi has got the maximum part of the nation’s oil reservoir.

9. Fujairah is the only emirate out of the seven whose maximum region is mountainous and the most prominent being the Hajjar Mountains.

10. The tallest building in the world, Burj Khalifa, which is 2722 feet tall and has got 211 floors is in Dubai.

11. Umm al-Quwain is the least populated emirate of UAE. It is most popular for its sunny weather, beautiful landscape and the fishing industry.

12. Ras al-Khaimah gets the most rainfall out of seven emirates and has got the most fertile land. It is a trade-free zone.

13. Dubai has got no street names, addresses, zip codes or anything. People travel according to landmarks and send there posts to PO boxes. It has got the largest man-made island in the world, the Palm Islands.

16. The majority of the people living in UAE are foreigners. The current percentage of expats in UAE is around 87%.


17. Masdar City in Abu Dhabi is the world’s first carbon-free, zero-waste and car-less city. The city uses solar power as the major source.
